Vik’s Vanguard

Name: Vik, Zofia
Name:
Vik, Zofia
Age:
26 Race: Unique (Magical Living Partial-Conversion Cyborg/Human)
Profession: Mercenary Captain
Specialties: Leadership, Guns, Infiltration, Strategy
Observations: I’m the Team Captain, but an easy one. I’m not a
dictator. I like to get the thoughts and opinions of my men before
making decisions, if time permits. I’m certainly not afraid to
make the final call. I’m loyal to my men and my cause, and I’ll
keep my word even upon pain of death. For that reason, I don’t
give my word often and when I do I mean it. I’m charismatic,
competent, skilled, and determined with an unwavering hatred of the
Coalition; I will not stop until I have paid them back for the
massacre of my village. I have gone through years of martial
training and many military-grade bionic conversions to make my part
possible. Before I sound like a narcissist, I must admit some
unfortunate imperfections which I must compensate for. I am an
alcoholic, presently “on the wagon”, I have a phobia that
plagues me on occasion, and I have a weakness for tough guys. It’s
been strange doing an observation of myself, but good for
perspective. Knowing one’s own strengths, and failings, is
helpful.
Name:
Varquoi, Andras
Age: 24 Race: Human
Profession: Mind Melter
Specialties: Scouting, Espionage, Infiltration
Observations: Andras is tall, dark, and handsome, standing out in
stark contrast to the rest of the broken earth in a very disturbing
way. His dress is always impeccable, and he’s never without a
sadistic glint in his eyes; I’ve always known he was an evil man.
However, I have always valued his wisdom. He is the little devil
sitting on my shoulder and I welcome him there, even if just to have
something to test my own values against. After the now two years
that we have spent together, he has proven to be a important
resource, and it seems that as long as I continue to pay him fairly
and on time he will continue to be loyal. I won’t pretend to trust
him beyond that, though, as much as I’d like to. The wool is not
over my eyes. On the trail, he is generally quiet; both his words
and actions seem carefully chosen. He enacts our plans with a
precision I definitely appreciate and I have yet to be even slightly
disappointed with his performance.
Name:
McGraw, Mitch
Age: Unknown Race: Grakletooth
Profession: Wanderer/Adventurer
Specialties: Big guns, Cover Fire
Observations: Mitch, my “big buddy”, is a “good old boy” in
the truest sense of the term. This huge reptile from the New West
has come to my assistance without asking for anything in return, but
simply because he took a liking to me. He is extremely easy to get
along with, and I have yet to see him take anything personally.
He’s got a great sense of fair play and justice, and has kept me
from doing some pretty dishonorable things on account of his
conscience. While I may have been upset at the time, I’m now
thankful for it. Further, he’s very skilled with his weapons and
has been invaluable in many a firefight. After having traveled
together for nearly a year now, Mitch is the one member of my team
that I consider my friend, and that I know I can truly trust. It is
also a bit relieving to know that I have someone watching my back.
Name:
Arson, Juris (Juri)
Age: 18 Race: Human
Profession: Mercenary
Specialties: Demolitions, Infiltration, Guns
Observations:
Both Juri and Jesse joined up with me about a month ago; they had
been friends for some time previous and traveled from team to team
together. On first impression, Juri is young, impulsive, and a
little too over-confident for a non-augmented human, which
admittedly amused me considerably. However, after working with him I
admit to being somewhat humbled in my opinion; he is worth every
credit, and deserving of his self-praise, as far as work is
concerned. Outside of work, however, he has proven himself to be
loud, boorish, unappreciative, and immature. In short, as long as
there are Dead Boys to kill and money to be had, Juri has proven
himself in the field and will be continue to be a valuable member of
my team…as long as I don’t have to live with him.
Name:
Culter, Jesse
Age: 21 Race: Human
Profession: Mercenary
Specialties: Gadgets, Computers, Machinery
Observations: Jesse is one of the cutest people I’ve seen, though
I won’t be sharing that. He’s got an infectious smile and an
amazing brain. From the first day I met him, he convinced me that I
needed him on my team. He was friendly enough to offer my stranded
team a ride back to Tolkeen, and proved to be quite a
conversationalist on the journey – especially when it came to his
specialties. It seems that his family is descended from a line of
other-dimensional humans who have an empathy with machinery, and
this natural bond assists him in his chosen profession (which, he
also notably enjoys). I genuinely like him, and I think as long as
he’s given toys to play with and appreciation, as well as steady
pay, this will continue to be a happy arrangement for us both.
Name:
Von Draagen, Lothar
Age: Unknown Race: Human
Profession: Mercenary/Death Knight
Specialties: Carnage
Observations: Lothar is a Death Knight. I believe not much more
needs to be said. He is first-rate at what he does, and that is
slaughter. The others have warned me concerning his participation in
our team, but my decision has been made clear; I believe we need
him, especially as we get closer to our main target. I believe he
can be trusted as long as he is in my employ, and as long as I keep
him at an arms length. However, unbeknownst to the others (with the
possible exception of Andras), he exudes a power to which I am drawn
like the proverbial moth to a flame. Knowing this, I make sure that
we are never alone, that when not on a mission we are not in
contact, and when the team separates for a mission, he and I
separate as well. Fortunately, this is just a temporary deal.
Former
Employees:
Name:
Achman, Axel
Age: 24 Race: Human
Profession: Mercenary/Juicer
Specialties: Special Forces
Observations: To make a completely impersonal observation, I would
have to say that Axel is an exceptionally capable warrior, strong,
fit, and resolute, with absolutely perfect timing and accuracy.
These attributes made him a valuable member of my team. Now for the
personal observation: While Axel has an admirable loathing for the
Coalition, he is also selfish, self-centered, and unfocused.
Granted, I was willing to lose my focus with him, and we had great
fun together. We became lovers. I learned quickly, however, that he
felt the world owed him something, and he’d never appreciate
anything I did for him. I could deal with that, if he’d ever once
have been proud enough of me to call me “his girl”. He never
did. I had really come to care for him & I still think of him
fondly and wonder how he is. I left him over a year ago in Quebec.
Just wait until he hears how well I’ve been doing without him!
Name:
“Grifter”
Age: Unknown Race: Human
Profession: Mercenary
Specialties: Versatile
Observations: Grifter was good at just about everything, but as I
recall he was outstanding at nothing. He tried to fit in, but never
really did. He had a very bland personality and on several occasions
I remember forgetting that he was even present. I can’t say
anything bad about him; I just can’t give him any rave reviews
either.
Name:
Grigore
Age: Unknown Race: Psi Stalker
Profession: Xitixix Hunter
Specialties: Anti-Supernatural
Observations:
Grigore was truly a rare man, simultaneously contemplative and
civilized, dependable and honorable, yet in battle he was feral,
brave, and deadly. He had a very keen sense and hunger for the
supernatural that at times threatened to get the best of him,
however his head always managed to keep ultimate control. His tribe
had sent him out into the world as a rite of passage, and he saw
that joining my team would have many opportunities for both finding
and proving himself. Eventually he did, and I am honored to have
been there to share in his journey as I did. We grew very close
during our adventures, eventually becoming a couple. When it came
time for him to go back to his people we parted on very good terms,
though it wasn’t easy for either of us. I saw him over 1½ years
ago near the border of Canada when my team was lost and ran into his
tribe. He seemed to be doing very well at the time, and as capable
as he is, I don’t doubt he’s still just fine.
